Charlie Sheen the movie star is apprehensive.

Michael’s first appearance on CNN since December of 2009 turned out to be quite the hatchet job. No, it wasn’t the Breaking News cutting time short that was the worst crime (although that was certainly poorly handled -- gotta save time for those Media Moments!) but the questions! Seriously, if there was anyone who doubted whether Kurtz would toe the corporate line, that was answered when he asked whether Michael was an adrenaline junkie. Are you for real? Oh, and even as Michael is saying that the term is a misnomer, the graphic says “Adrenaline rush exerts a pull” so The Powers That Be at CNN clearly have decided to continue treating PTSD as something that the sufferers deserve.

Those eight words were not easy to write. It’s even harder now reading them back. Seeing them there, sullen and sad and monosyllabic in their black and white.

James Swanwick, co-founder of CrocMedia (host of the 2009 talk in Los Angeles) and an old friend of Michael’s, has a new book on how to become a journalist that includes an interview with him. Police drop taxi assault charge against war correspondent

POLICE have dropped an assault charge against high-profile war correspondent Michael Ware.

Ware, 42, of Ferny Grove, in Brisbane's north, had been accused of the common assault of a Brisbane taxi driver on Gipps St, Fortitude Valley, on November 26 last year.

Ware -- a former reporter with The Courier-Mail -- worked in Afghanistan and Iraq for Time magazine and CNN.

Brisbane Magistrates Court was earlier this year told the case was appropriate for mediation but that there were difficulties in contacting the complainant, who is an Indian national.

In court today, Senior-Sergeant Mark Gorton said police had no evidence to offer and asked for the charge to be withdrawn.

It was struck out and Ware was discharged.

"Justice has been done," Ware said outside court.

The journalist is currently dividing his time between Australia and the US, producing films and writing for Newsweek.

Unlike Pakistan, Iran is not yet tacitly involved in attacks on Australian troops in Afghanistan. Not, at least, that we’ve so far heard. But it’s not beyond the realm.

An ex-war correspondent has been charged with assault after a dispute over a cab ride, a court has heard.
