CNN will air coverage devoted to the world’s refugee
crisis on World Refugee Day Wednesday.
Part of “the world’s news leader’s” coverage will
include an hour-long special on Anderson Cooper 360,
Without a Home: Refugee in Crisis, as well as an
interview with actress and goodwill ambassador with
the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Angelina
Jolie and reports all through the day from CNN
correspondents stationed around the globe.
CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta will
examine the crisis in Darfur to reach a better
understanding on who is accountable for the
predicament in Sudan.
CNN international correspondent Michael Ware will
report on the current situation in Iraq and will
interview a former refugee from Iraq who now has
settled in the United States. Bangkok correspondent Dan
Rivers will profile a man from Myanmar who teaches
refugees the skills they need in order to survive.
And senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin will take an
in-depth look into the difficulties of serving
justices for refugee cases.
Beginning in 2001, this year’s World Refugee Day will
mark the event’s sixth anniversary. Held June 20
every year, this year’s WRD takes the theme A New
Life, A New Home.
The UNHCR tracks 32.9 million refugees around the
world.
